Tunnel Vision

Today’s shots are from a local spot fondly known as the Ice Tunnel, officially named Roseville Tunnel.

The tunnel was completed in 1911, running 1,024 feet long with a 100 foot stretch of concrete. Originally home to a railroad track through northwestern New Jersey, the line was abandoned in 1979, uprooted and sold in 1984, and acquired by the state of New Jersey in 2001. I have read rumors of rebuilding the line for transportation but there are no visible signs of it’s mentioned completion date of 2021. SOURCE

The trail is a great spot for bored explorers; nature and art enthusiasts alike. Nowadays you’ll find empty beer cans and graffiti lining the rock walls. You may encounter a group on their quads or motorbikes. Aren’t we all just trying to get a little thrill out of this life?

Friends are ghosts are friends that come and go.

I find it fascinating to see how things change over time.
